Babson named Education Sponsor for AI World 2017
Conference in Boston December 11-13
Oct 30, 2017 – As part of the sponsorship, Babson’s Technology, Operations, and Information Management Department will join the Cognitive Computing Consortium for a separate, full-day program focused on information for the AI / cognitive computing professional. The program will deliver a wide-ranging set of keynotes and sessions devoted to practical challenges for experienced AI practitioners, and will feature Babson College faculty members Ganesan Shankar as presenter and Clare Gillan as moderator.
Babson Professor Ganesan Shankar will co-present ‘A Reference Model for Cognitive Applications,’ showcasing a joint research program sponsored by Babson College and the Cognitive Computing Consortium. The research program is creating a data-centered model for describing and characterizing cognitive applications, and can be used in multiple ways, by organizations planning to integrate cognitive techniques into their operations. Decision makers, developers, human factors professionals, business owners, and users can all use this model to develop insights about their cognitive applications projects.
“AI and Machine Learning have moved from an esoteric topic to a main-stay in today’s business,” said Babson Associate Professor Ganesan Shankar. “Understanding these topics is therefore important not just from a technology perspective but also from a business sense. The purpose of this conference, specifically, the session on Machine Intelligence, is for business users and decision makers to understand how to approach the development of machine intelligence applications and systems, not just the underlying technologies but also the applicability and business value.”
Artificial intelligence-based applications are now being designed and deployed by a number of innovative enterprises. A groundswell of interest from large and small firms was seen at AI World 2016, where attendance exceeded expectations with well over 2,000 attendees. AI World 2017 will build on this success.
“We are very excited to be collaborating with Babson College as Education Sponsor of our AI World 2017 conference and expo in Boston,” said Eliot Weinman, CEO, Trends Equity and AI World Conference Chair. “The artificial intelligence industry is perhaps the fastest growing market segment in the world today. Billions of dollars are being invested into new innovative companies and technologies. Babson College has a world class track record of being the No. 1 ranked entrepreneurial MBA program for 24 consecutive years according to U.S. News & World Report. Thousands of new companies are being created, and these companies can use the experience and education programs that Babson has developed to help them succeed.”
